Subway Line 9 is a line in the Beijing Subway which will run from the National Library of China Subway Station all the way through to Guogongzhuang Subway Station. The line runs through much of southwestern Beijing and passes through Beijing West Railway Station and Fengtai Railway Station.

History

Construction on Subway Line 9 begun in late 2007, with the entire subway line expected to be ready by 2012.

Line 9 is expected to pass underneath the eastern part of Yuyuantan Lake. As a result (and somewhat unconventionally), Line 9's trek underneath the water will result in the emptying out of water from the eastern part of Yuyuantan Lake. This phenomenon takes place from November 2009 through to May 2010.

Route

Subway Line 9 will start at the National Library of China Subway Station interchange station with Subway Line 4. The route sees the subway line pass through Chegongzhuang, Yuyuantan, the Beijing West Railway Station, Liuliqiao and Fengtai Railway Station before ending up in Guogongzhuang.

The line runs mainly north-south, although there are sharp turns near Liuliqiao as it proceeds further south at an angle.

Subway Line 9 is expected to have up to 15 stops, with about 7 of them interchange stations.
