History

The South Gate of Forest Park station used to be called in earlier plans the Forest Park station (地铁森林公园站); however, this name was revised in early 2008 naming schemes.

The station was built in 2008 and opened at 14:00 on July 19, 2008, though initially only to Olympic Games ticket holders. After the Games the station was opened to the general public.

The South Gate of Forest Park station has two underground levels, with the platform on the lower level. Underground Level 1 is a split hall between a northern side hall with Exits A and B, and a southern side hall with Exits C and D. Passengers from Underground Level 2 must choose their exits in advance before leaving the platform level.

The station is supported by two rows of white square columns at platform level. These columns look like trees in a forest; this is very fitting for the name of the station.
